ESBC NEDERLAND

Is a board to organise the entry for the European Championships 50+ For the Dutch players

We do this is good cooperation with the Netherlands Bowling Federation.

ESBC-Nederland has started in 1993 organising the E.C. In the Netherlands, Veldhoven.

Last year we changed our name in ESBC Nederland. Why? Because in the Netherlands Holland is in reality two counties, named Zuid-Holland and Noord-Holland.

So our players were in favour of changing the name in Nederland.

ESBC-Nederland has this web-site written in Dutch.

www.esbcnederland.nl is the site containing information about the National Championships we do every year.

The Duch open championships scratch in February and the  Dutch open championships handicap in October of each year.

We do this for the N.B.F. (netherlands Bowling Federation). You alse can find there some information about the European Championships.

www. Esbcnederland.cintains lots of information about ESBC-Nederland, who is in the board, what are

the plans how to comunicate with the board and so on.

ESBC

ESBC is an organisation for organising the European Championships 50+.

ESBC stands for European Senior Bowlers Committee

ESBC is a board without any legal notes. ESBC is just a board of five persons.

At this moment the board consists of:

the president is from the Netherlands: Paul Douw

The treasurer from Sweden Bengt Svanström

The secretary from the Netherlands Lia Fievet

Tournament director Raimo Lahti from Finland

Then there isone boardmember who ia in the board because they are involved of organising an E.C.

Zdenek Navratil from Czech Republic (host 2009)

In 2010 his job will end and then tere are 4 boardmembers left in ESBC.

ESBC has a tenpin bowling history, starting in 1992 at La Rochelle, France and ending ????
In 2005 we visited Gent Belgium. Now in June 2006, we have visited Copenhagen, Denmark.
In 2008 we had Nantes France, in. 2009 is Czech Republic in Praha the host..

2010 is awarded to Austria and we are going to Vienna. 2011 ttHE HOST IS Israel for the second time. In 2012 the Netherlands will host the EC. So ESBC is still going strong.

The beginning was in France and was organised by Bernard Mora of France. Their were not a big amount of players, but the beginning was good. The E.C. were held in two places La Rochelle and Niort.

The next year was Hilvarenbeek in the Netherlands, already growing and with nice competitions and friendships.

The E.C. Still keeps it glamour and is still the biggest 50+ event in Europe..

Bernard Mora and Wim de Wit from Holland have done a great and hard job to get the E.C. organised according to the views of both gentlemen.

Winning is not so important, meeting friends is more important.

It is still hard to believe that so many players want to be in the E.C. 50+.

They come from all over Europe, they come from Israel and they come from South Africa, just to become European Champion.

Believe it or not they just playing for the gold medal and the ETBF medal.

Most of the players have to pay themselves for the trip, the hotels and the entry fee.

In 2007 Palermo were 18 countries present with over 750 players to compeed in three men and three women catagories.

The E.C. Is played for men and women seperatly.

We have three age groups, to get a real competition, also allowing older people to earn a medal.

Each players have to bowl six games, singles, six games doubles and six games trio’s. After that you can reach the masters, where you have to bowl a round robin finale.

Organising E.C. 50+

The top of the organisation is the ESBC board, elected in the ESBC meeting held during the E.C.

The board is only looking if everything goes according to our rules and wishes.

A country or an organisation in a country is doing the actual work. They organise the E.C. The organising committee is resposable for the whole E.C.

They have to sort out that everything goes within the budget. Any losses they have to pay.

It souds alarming, but in the 15 years of organising the organising committee alsways managed the E.C. Within the budget.

The board of ESBC are all volonteers, to keep the costs al low as possible. Every player has to pay a little fee, for the expenses of the ESBC board. In the ESBC board meeting a country

can get the E.C.

A year before, the ESBC board goes to that country and inspects all bowling houses, all hotels and other accomodations. They look to every aspect of the E.C. Andthe organising committee

has to give the financial estimates during that inspection.

After everything is according to the standards of the ESBC board, the organising committee gets the green light to go on.

You can all read the information in the pages about the rules of ESBC. See our link page.
